We are the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild! We live and breathe the rich and colorful history of Catskill fly tying.

About the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild:
In 1993, Floyd Franke and Matthew Vinciguerra formed the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild. These individuals recognized the need for an organization that would:

  • Preserve, protect and enhance the Catskill fly-tying heritage.
  • Work cooperatively to promote the work of present Catskill fly tyers.
  • Provide various ways for members to share information.
  • Promote the development of future generations of Catskill fly tyers.

Members of the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild firmly believe that the development of fly fishing in the Catskill Mountains of New York is synonymous with the development of fly fishing in the United States. This rich heritage is seen as the foundation of the Guild’s present efforts.

Monthly Meetings:
We hold regular monthly meetings. Our in-person meetings are held at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (CFFC&M) located in Livingston Manor, New York. CFFC&M is located adjacent to the famous Willowemoc Creek, so you could attend a Guild meeting, spend time perusing fly-fishing artifacts, and fish one of the top streams of the Catskills. We utilize virtual meetings to avoid traveling to the Catskills in winter weather conditions, and these virtual meetings have enabled us to extend our reach to our members around the country and internationally. Links to the virtual meetings are sent directly to members of the Guild.

Membership and the Gazette Newsletter:

Membership is $20 per year, billed February of each calendar year. Membership is non-refundable.

You get six newsletters (the Gazette) per year sent via email, which are filled with lots of history, fly patterns, and information. Click on the Gazette link at the top of this page to learn more about and read some previous issues of the Gazette.
